Do you ever have those days where you feel buried, discouraged or like nothing is going the way it should? I’ve had about three or four of those days in a row. Now, I’m not complaining, not really — my life is generally pretty fantastic… but, last night I was pretty flustered–looking at my to-do list, the sleeping 6 month old (he visits our house 3 nights a week) and my ‘I’m-not-going-to-go-to-sleep-because-I-know-I’ll-miss-something-awesome’ 3-year-old I found myself wondering where in the world I was going to fit all this stuff in. I love working at home but it can be a challenge and it’s simply not a piece of cake.
It’s okay to have a bad day, or two, maybe even three. Beyond that though, it’s time to pull up your big girl panties and get on with it. So, while moaping with my toddler in my lap and watching Disney short clips on YouTube (we don’t have cable, I have no desire to change that — We’re fans of Roku, Netflix and HuluPlus) we came across Finding Nemo clips, specifically this one:
At that moment, with my non-sleeping 3-year-old in my lap and Dory’s awesome voice and song filling my head it just didn’t matter anymore. I’ll “just keep swimming’ and it will be fine. Besides, as I look at my freshly jotted down to-do list in today’s light it really isn’t so bad. Especially when I have two children happily playing trains and watching Finding Nemo.
If you’re having a bad couple of days or are overwhelmed with your to-do list it’s okay — Just remember to “Just Keep Swimming” eventually you’ll get to where you’re going.
